DCIM — Data center infrastructure management
For data center sites, DCIM ties the IT space to the facility: every rack, every device, and the full power path behind each of them.
Racks and devices
- Rooms, rows, racks and every IT device (servers, storage, network, patch panels, GPUs) by U position; the rack elevation shows position, model, power and single-corded devices.
Power chain
- Utility or generator → ATS → UPS → PDU or row panel → rack feeds A and B. Pick any rack to see both complete paths to the source with live load at every level; ATSs show which source they are on.
- Rack power from three clearly labelled sources: the rack's own meter (measured), the upstream PDU's measured power shared by typical rack load (allocated), or typical device power (estimated).
Capacity and budgets
- Per room: space (U and the largest contiguous gap), power (IT load against design and the total of rack budgets), cooling (IT load against cooling capacity, racks with high inlet temperature) and network ports.
- Rack power budget alarms, and "A/B redundancy lost" when a rack's load exceeds 80 % of one feed's capacity; they clear automatically when the condition ends.
Thermal map and billing
- Room heat map interpolated from existing temperature points (supply, return, rack inlet), with the ASHRAE recommended inlet range marked; places without points show no values.
- Monthly per-customer energy, average and peak power; cost = energy × unit price × facility factor (such as PUE) plus monthly rack rent, with CSV export and the data source of each row.
